WESTOVER–James E., 76, Westover R.D., died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born Jan. 17, 1933, in Westover to Ralph E. & Alberta V. (Wagner) Westover. Predeceased by parents and wife of 51 years, the former Phyllis E. McKee, in 2004. Survived by children: Cheryl D., married to Gary Pierce, and Connie D., married to Kenneth Brink, both of Westover; Jeffrey, with whom he resided; and Lisa McLaurin, Northern Cambria. Also survived by grandchildren: Chad Pierce, Shelby (Ryan) Bernecky, Shannon Brink and Tyler McLaurin; and three great-grandchildren. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Mill in Johnstown. Member of East Ridge-Harmony United Methodist Church. Member of the Harmony Grange, where he and his wife voluntarily ran a food booth for over 20 years. Enjoyed traveling with his wife and didn't go anywhere without his dogs, Mitzi and Cuji. He always enjoyed meeting new people and was available to chauffeur anyone, anywhere. Loved to cook and garden with his favorite son. Friends received from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Long-Contres Funeral Home, Northern Cambria, and from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at East Ridge-Harmony United Methodist Church, Westover R.D. Interment, East Ridge Cemetery.
