Mrs. James H. Moore

Elizabeth J. Lewis was born in Belmont County, Ohio, June 27, 1843, and died at her home in Brimfield, Illinois, December 9, 1909.

On November 20, 1860 she was united in marriage to Mr. James H. Moore. To this union were born eight children, all of whom, with the husband survive her as follows; Mrs. Ella Stephens of Farmington, Mrs. Mollie Lapsley of Trivoli, S.H. Moore of Corvallis, Oregon, Arthur R. and Vaude Moore of Brimfield, Mrs. Moore's death is the first in the family.

In 1865 Mr. and Mrs. Moore came to Trivoli, Illinois and later moved to Brimfield, living in this township for more that thirty eight years. She was united with the Baptist church at the age of sixteen, tried to live a Christian life. On coming to Illinois her membership was transferred to the Presbyterian Church.

The funeral services were held at the Congressional church Sunday afternoon at 2pm. The sermon was preached by the pastor of the M.E. Church, the Rev. R.W. Ames, from the text, Psalms 39:4.

The Pallbearers were Charles Hayes, Jas. Rayfield, H.O. Cady, John Rusk, Alf Whetzel, and Frank Clark. The remains were laid to rest in the Brimfield cemetery.
