Goldie L. Warthen, 82 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice, NE. Wednesday morning, September 24, 2003. She was born on June 29, 1921 at Bourbon, KS. She attended the Gish School in Kansas. She and Harry A. Warthen were married June 15, 1940 in Nevada, MO. They moved to Beatrice, NE. in 1950. She had been employed at the Swift Co., the Good Samaritan Center and the Beatrice State Developmental Center for 8 years, and was a babysitter for many years, all in Beatrice, NE. She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church in Beatrice, NE. She enjoyed cooking, canning, and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great granddaughter.
Survivors include 4 daughters; Kathryn Davis and her husband Don of Fairbury, NE., Mona Lewien and her husband Dennis of Ulysses, NE., Ruby Ebeling and her husband Noel of Steele City, NE., and RosaLee Reedy and her husband Gene of Wymore, NE.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 1 great great granddaughter; sisters Mary Jones and Jessie Wiggins, both of Fort Scott, KS.; brother Tom Endicott and his wife Charlene of Wichita, KS.; sisters in law Grace Endicott of Fort Scott, KS., Emma Adams of Beatrice, NE., Marie Christy of Papillion, NE., and Mary Ellen Rothemsid of Pine Bluff, Wyoming; and by her extended family at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Josie (Birdsell) Endicott; husband Harry A. Warthen (8-11-2000), 1 infant daughter, 1 sister and 1 brother.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 A.M. Friday, September 26, 2003 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. with Reverend Don Canady officiating. Interment will be held at 4:30 P.M. Friday at the Large Cemetery, Fort Scott, KS. with Reverend R.B. Shoemaker officiating. The body will lie in state Thursday from 10:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. and Friday until the time of the service at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. A memorial has been established with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected]. They will be forwarded to the family.
