On September 18, 1856 in Itawamba County Mississippi, James McAlister Womack married Drucilla "Drew" Patton, the youngest daughter of Dorn and Sarah Spaulding Ryan Patton. Her father Dorn Patton gave a gift deed of land to her in 1857, naming her as wife of James M. Womack. James joined the 14th Mississippi Cavalry CSA and was killed at the Battle of Fort Donelson, Tennessee July 1861. After his death, their daughter Sophronia B. Womack was born February 13, 1862. His widow Drucilla then married Jack Tipton June 19, 1862 in Itawamba County; she then married the widowed Isom J. Warren May 21, 1867 in Itawamba County and had nine children by him. They moved the family to Wise County Texas about 1870. James M. Womack's daughter Sophronia Womack married Joseph M. McNeely in Wise County Texas 1881 and had a son Isam Claudy McNeely born August 19, 1886, died January 4, 1887. Sophronia Womack McNeely died during childbirth 1893 and she and her son are buried in Sycamore, Wise County Texas. After the death of Isom J. Warren, Drucilla married Thomas McNeely and they moved to Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma where their son Thomas Lee McNeely was born 1885. Drucilla "Drew C." Patton Womack Tipton Warren McNeely is buried in Dibble, McClain County Oklahoma. The story of this family illustrates the terrible disruption of lives the Civil War caused, and how families survived.
