Long Illness Is Fatal In City to A. J. Achenbach

Resident Came Here In Covered Wagon 50 Years Ago.

Andrew J. Achenbach, who came to Wyoming with his parents in a covered wagon a half century ago, died at his home here, 376 West Brundage street, Friday evening after an illness of two years. He was 58 years old.
Mr. Achenbach was only eight years of age when he accompanied his parents westward from his birthplace at Pinegrove, Pa., and three years later the family settled on a ranch near Dayton. He was born on August 21, 1874.
In 1898 Mr. Achenbach moved to Alberta, Canada, where he lived for 22 years. He originated and operated the post office of Thelma, Alberta.
On Sept. 2, 1908, he married Miss Martha Graff, and since 1920 the family has lived in and near Sheridan. In addition to his widow, Mr. Achenbach is survived by three children, Rachel, Reece and Ruth, all at home; his mother, Mrs. John Ogle, and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Macor and Mrs. G. Gilbertson, all of Seattle. Two brothers, Emanuel Achenbach of Jerome, Idaho, and J. H. Achenbach of Dayton also survive. Mr. Achenbach was a nephew of Emanuel Achenbach of Parkman, and early pioneer of Wyoming.
All of the members of his immediate family and one brother were at his bedside at the time of his death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from Champion's Drawing room.
