KELLEY - Carole Sue (Steen), Carole Kelley, age 67, passed peacefully on March 27th, 2009, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK, with her brother Tom by her side. She lost a short hard fought battle with cancer. Carole was born on November 4th, 1941, to Flossie (Jackson) Steen and Buster Steen in Grove, OK. She was a Grove High School graduate, class of '59. She graduated with honors and was a member of the cheer squad. Carole attend college at NEO before going to work for Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. in 1960. She then pursued a career with the oil and gas industry working in Texas and Oklahoma. She worked first for ARCO Oil and later for Vintage petroleum where she held various positions. Positions included; executive secretary, joint interest assistant, account auditor, materials supervisor, and production specialist. Following an early retirement from ARCO, she spent 2 years as a right-of-way purchasing agent for ARCO's pipeline division. Her last years of employment were spent with Vintage Petroleum where she recently took full retirement. Over the years, Carole gained the love and respect of many co-workers, friends and neighbors. Carole enjoyed spending time with friends and family, reading, doing the daily crossword puzzle and playing Yahtzee with her niece, McKalee. Carole loved to travel, taking several vacations over the years with her friends. Her favorite destinations included the Ocean where she always found peace and comfort. Carole was preceded in death by: her husband, Ned Kelley; her parents, Flossie and Buster Steen; step-granddaughter, Kimberly Kelley; aunts, Aurelia Paddock, Marie Cooper, Wanda Orr; and her beloved dogs, Sam and Maggie. She is survived by: her brother, Tom Steen, his wife, Keli and their 3 children, Timothy, Molly and McKalee, all of Grove. She is also survived by uncles: Robert (Bronc) Jackson and his wife, Roberta of Grove and Loren Jackson of Neosho, MO; a special step-son, Tim Kelley and his wife, Diane of Monet, MO; a host of cousins and many dear friends. Service will be held in Tulsa, OK, Tuesday, March 31st at the Moore Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E 51st Street, 1 p.m., with graveside service following at Butler Cemetery South of Grove at 4 p.m. Visitation will be Monday, March 30th, 6-8 p.m., at Southlawn Chapel.
