In Memory of W. F. Stanfield

On April 15, 1934, at 5 o'clock the death angel visited our home and took from us our father, W. F. Stanfield. He was 77 years of age at his death and was a member of the Missionary Baptist church, which he loved so well.

Mr. Stanfield had been in ill health for several years. He told us a few weeks before he became sick that he could not be with us long, but we never realized his death was so near. All that loving hands could do was done, but nothing could restore his health and God called him home.

He leaves five daughters, 27 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 1 sister, 2 brothers, 4 half-sisters and 4 half-brothers and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. It is hard we know to give our dear father up, but the Lord knows best and when He called him he had to leave us and go to a brighter home above; a home not made with human hands where there will be no suffering. He is missed by all who knew him. At home is a vacant place, a vacant chair, which never can be filled. His sweet smiles can be seen no more, his footsteps and his kind loving voice can be heard no more.

But dear sisters, let's try not to weep, for dear father is not dead, he is only asleep in Jesus. And now he looks for us with beckoning hands. One great consolation we have is that he told us only a few days before he died that he was prepared and was going home. He went away so sweet and easy when Jesus said, "Come home." Let us try to say not my will but Thy will be done for the Lord knows all things best and doeth all things well. We know that we can not call him back to this world, but can live and go to him.

Dear Sisters, let's look up to the One that he put his trust in and He will make all things right in the sweet by and by.

He was laid to rest in the Walnut Grove cemetery April 15th, at 4:30 o'clock. Bro. E. E. Jones of Minden and Bro. Malone of Jacksonville conducted the funeral services.
His daughter,
Mrs. Lawrence Randall,
Garrison, Texas.
