Esteemed Citizen is Claimed by Death
Mr. Daniel Murphy, aged 71, passed away at his home near Leaksville, Saturday morning at twelve o'clock, following a severe illness of two weeks. Mr. Murphy had been in feeble health for over a year.
He was a native of Rockingham County, and had been living in the vicinity of Leaksville for twenty-nine years. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church since boyhood.
Mr. Murphy was esteemed by all who knew him, as a kindly Christian gentleman, who was faithful to all duties.
Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Virginia Murphy, of Leaksville; Mrs. R. L. Cate [Cato], of Leaksville; Mrs. Charles W. Barnes, of Leaksville, and Mrs. D. A. Barnes, of Leaksville, and three sons, J. Arthur Murphy, of Leaksville; Calhoun Murphy of Washington, D.C., and Daniel O. Murphy, of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Funeral services were conducted at his home in Leaksville, Sunday evening at three o'clock, by Rev. Roberson and Gwynn and interment was made in family burying ground.
