James R. Westmoreland 67, of Pemberton, died Tuesday in a local hospital after a long illness.
Born May 10, 1900, in Ashe County, N.C., he was the son of the late Alexander and Lacy Ann Tucker Westmoreland.
He was a retired miner and a member of the UMWA and has served withthe U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife Macie Westmoreland; two sons, Homer, address unknown, Wayne, at home, one daughter, Wanda Lee, at home, two stepsons, Elwood Clay at home and gilbert Clay, Midway; one sister, Mrs. Etta Kabo, McComas; eight grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cue M. Congerbury in charge.
Burial will follow in the Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Lusk, Jimmy Moore, Gleen Paisley, Dan Campbell, Lester Vaught and Marvin Rasco.
