Wilma graduated from Jackson High School and Foote Hospital Nursing School. She married Lawrence Allen of Rives Township on May 25, 1940. Their wedding announcement at the time wished "them a long, happy, and prosperous life with many blessings and few clouds to dim their life's sunshine." These blessings were realized over their almost 69 years of marriage. Wilma worked as a RN at Foote Hospital from 1940 through 1963 while also being a dairy farm wife and raising four daughters. She helped her daughters as a 4-H sewing instructor. She was a faithful and loving example of a godly wife and mother living her faith in God and Jesus Christ before her husband, her daughters and their families. She was a member of the Rives Baptist Church where she also served as a Sunday School Teacher.
