Services for Cecil Edward Temple will be held today at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. Jimmy Williams and Wallace Terry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Temple, 85, of Meridian, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Meridian Community Living Center. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He loved gardening and was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved playing checkers with his friends at Joyner's store in the Centerhill Community. Basketball was his most loved sport and he played with his brothers, Charlie and Rayford, on Centerhill starting basketball team.

His garden was admired by everyone and it gave him great joy. He will be remembered as one who loved to play in the backyard with his wife, Ola Kate and his children.

Mr. Temple worked at General Box Company for more than 22 years and at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in the laundry and purchasing departments until his retirement. He was highly respected and known for his hard work and dedication to his job.

He was married to the late Ola Kate Vick Temple for more than 44 years and she was the love of his life. They lived in the Centerhill Community their entire married life and had four children.
Survivors include his children, Waylon Edward Temple and his wife, Denise, of Meridian, Georgia Gail Skinner and her husband, Orvil, of Centerhill, Richard Don Temple and his wife, Pam, of Bailey; a brother, Rayford Temple and his wife, Janice, of Centerhill; grandchildren, Waylon ?Snug? Edward Temple Jr., Brandy Russell, Tyler Temple, Parker Temple, Dane Skinner and Jennifer Ladner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, Sylvia Ann; brothers Charlie Temple and Vernon Temple and a sister, Anita Chisolm.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Massey, Jay Vick, Mickey Vick, Terrell Temple, Bryan Temple and Charles Chisolm.

Memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 9325 Fellowship Road, Meridian, MS 39305.

Visitation will be today 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
