Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 16, 2007 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice, Nebraska

Florence E. Hyberger, 87 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Parkview Center in Beatrice Monday night, November 12, 2007. She was born on March 6, 1920 near Liberty, NE. to Hugh and Agnes (Murphy) York. She was a 1937 graduate of Barneston High School in Barneston, NE. and a 1941 graduate of the Creighton Memorial/St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, NE. as an RN. She and William Hyberger were married on June 19, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida and they lived in Jacksonville, Liberty, NE. and Humboldt, NE. before moving to Beatrice in 1954. She was employed at the former Lutheran Hospital in Beatrice from 1954 until 1982, and at the Beatrice State Developmental Center in Beatrice from 1982 until she retired in 1989. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice, the Altar Society and Circle 7 of the church. She enjoyed her family, quilting, cooking and reading.

Survivors include her husband William; sons Hugh Hyberger and wife Becky of Salina, KS., Mark Hyberger and wife Linda and Robert Hyberger and wife Theresa, all of Beatrice, NE.; daughter Joan Stepan and husband Ross of Holmesville, NE.; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sisters Elizabeth Barton and husband Joseph of Weslaco, TX., Helen Engelbart of Westminster, CA., and Sister Mary James York of Omaha, NE.; brother Father Paul York of Lincoln, NE.; and daughter in law Carol Hyberger of Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Agnes (Murphy) York; sons Joseph, Guy, Francis, and Dale Hyberger; daughter Rita Hyberger; brothers Robert and James York; and brother in law Keith Engelbart.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 16, 2007 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice, NE. with Father Paul York and Father Steve Major officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Beatrice, NE. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 2-9:00 P.M. and Thursday from 9-6:00 P.M. and not at the church Friday. A scriptural prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. A memorial has been established to Memorial Masses, St. Joseph Altar Society, and Parkview Center with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected]. They will be forwarded to the family.

The Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice is in charge of the services.
