Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. David passed away on Monday, March 30, 2009, following a three year battle with cancer.
He was born April 11, 1956, to Craig and Valetta (Bleam) Bushong.
He grew up in Homer, Michigan, where he graduated from Homer Community Schools in 1974. He played varsity football for four years and earned All-State, All¬-Conference, and All-American honors. He went on to play football at Olivet College and then transferred to Kellogg Community College where he earned an associates degree.
David was a very hard worker and started working at a foundry when he was sixteen years old. He continued with that work for most of his life working mostly at Hayes Albion and Spray Metal Mold and Technology.
In December 1995, David was called to the ministry. He moved to Great Falls, MT. to pursue his calling. There he met and married the love of his life, Kelley Poirier. While in Montana, he was a laborer, most recently at the International Malting Company.
On August 10, 2003, he was ordained as a minister and has worked under the strict guidance of the Lord and Rev. Phillip Caldwell. David had a strong faith in the Lord. His daily walk showed how much he loved God. If there was an opportunity to minister to someone, David would jump at the chance. There was no mistaking God was first in his life. His wife and kids were his life. They meant everything to him.
He enjoyed spending all his free time with his family, camping, fishing, woodworking, and attending sporting events.
Being an avid hunter with his son Justus and special friend Rev. Dempsey Harshaw, and watching his girls play softball were truly the most enjoyable activities David enjoyed.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kelley Bushong; son Jason E. Bushong and wife Jennifer; son Justus D. Bushong; daughters Lacey J. Bushong and Cayley, B. Bushong; a sister and brother-in-law, Claudette and Don Tinney ; three grandchildren; two nieces; and a very special young man who was like a son to him, Josh Cornell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
