Death of John Cleveland

John Cleveland, one of the old and respected residents of this county, died at his home south of this city last Monday evening. He had been ailing for some time and his death was caused by a cancer of the liver. The deceased was a native of New York state, and in 1832 came west and located in Illinois where he lived until 1864. In that year he removed to Delaware county where he has ever since resided.

Mr. Cleveland was a man of sterling integrity, a good friend and neighbor and one whose death is mourned by all who knew him. He is survived by a son, A. H. Cleveland, and a daughter, Eva A. The funeral will be held at the house this Wednesday afternoon at 1:30, Rev. W. H. Ensign, officiating.
