Charles Edgar Leffel was born 16 Apr 1851 in Champaign County, Ohio to parents, David Miller Leffel and Susan Evaline West Leffel. In the late 1850s, the Leffel family moved to Texas.
On 5 May 1869 in Cooke County, Texas, Charles married Sarah Ann Burkham Chapman. She died two years later after giving birth to their son, David B Leffel.
Charles married Caldona Jane Box on 18 Nov 1875 in Dallas, Texas. They were the parents of nine children.
