Grandson of Sir Thomas Moore and founder of the Roper charity.
Followed his father into the legal profession and shared Chambers with him at Lincoln's Inn in 1565.
Married Anne Cotton, daughter of Sir John Cotton of Landwade, Cambridgeshire, and his wife Isabel Spencer.
Lived at Farningham, Kent, a Manor he inherited after his father's death.
Anthony and Anne were both buried at the Church of St. Peter & Paul, Farningham, where there is a memorial to them on the church wall.
Anthony and Anne had five children, the eldest of whom became Sir Anthony Roper when he was knighted at the coronation of James I on 23 July 1603.
