Mrs. Sussannah Walter
Wife of Adam Walter and mother of County Commissioner Calvin Walter died at the homestead in Greenfield Township near Claysburg died yesterday at 10:10 Oclock. Mrs Walter was the daughter of Jacob and Matilda Claar was born in Bedford County near where she died Feb. 29, 1836. She was first Married to Joseph Walter who gave his life for this country and he sleeps beneath the sod on the Southern battlefield. To this union six children was born as follows Frank P. Calvin, Austin, McClellan, Harry G., Mrs. George Graybill (deceased) of this city. Mrs. Walter was married again in 1875 to Adam Walter who with one son survives J. Emory Walter of Juniata.
The following step-children survive Miles A. Geo. W. (deceased) Blair M. Mrs. Julia Snowberger , Mrs Albert Feather, Mrs. William Colebaugh. Mrs. Walter also raised four orphaned grandchildren She is survived in addition to her husband Children and Step-Children forty five Grand-Children-fifty four Great-Grandchildren and seven Great Great -Grand -children as well as two aged brothers Jacob Claar and Rev. Michael Claar of Queen.
