Mrs. Clemens Acker Sr., 59, of 501 New York Ave., died suddenly Monday evening at St. Nicholas Hospital.
She was born March 26, 1898, in the Town of Lima, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Gartman, and received her education at St. George School and Sheboygan Business College. Her marriage to Clemens Acker was performed at Holy Name Church by the late Msgr. Dominic F. Thill on June 21, 1921.
A member of the St. Clement's Parish, she also belonged to its Holy Family Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, St. Philomena Unit of the Good Samaritan Guild and the St. Cecilia Court of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters.
Survivors are her husband; a son, Clemens Jr., of Sheboygan; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph {Harriette} Coyne of Madison, Mrs. Thomas {Annette} Byrne of Milwaukee; seven grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Kotnik of Sheboygan, Sister M. Fidelia, SSND, Arcadia, Wis., Mrs. Pat Sheehy of Manitowoc, and Mrs. Harry Grasse of Milwaukee. Two brothers and a sister also preceded her in death.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Clement's Church following brief rites at 9:30 a.m. at Gerend's Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The Holy Family Altar Society of the parish and the Catholic Daughters will hold a joint vigil at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Wednesday followed by the saying of the rosary at 7:15 p.m. by members of the Women's Catholic Order of Foresters and St. Philomena Unit of the Good Samaritan Guild.
