Morrilton, March 30-J. M. Gordon, aged 70, sheriff for nine years, died at St. Anthony's Hospital last night. He was a resident of Conway County all his life. He served as deputy for 12 years, under three former sheriffs, Ben White, Tom Hervey and Freed Hutto. At the death of Sheriff Sherman Nisler in 1930 he was appointed.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. R. L. Greer and Mrs. Dolph Nation of Morrilton and Mrs. Oscar Martin of Little Rock; four brothers, Landor Gordon of Wichita, Kan.; j. L. Gordon of Fairport, Kan.; Paul Gordon of Solgohachia and Ed Gordon of Morrilton.
Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 2 pm Thursday by the Rev. E. W. Faulkner, assisted by the Rev. R. E. E. Bearden of Arkadelphia.
