1933 – ALBERT WEST

WHITESBORO – Funeral services for Albert S. West, 47, who was found shot to death in bed at his home, 1606 Lincoln Street, Fort Worth about 6 a.m. Thursday, were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the North Fort Worth Baptist church and interment was in Oakwood cemetery at Whitesboro Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Mr. West had been in failing health some 10 years and was not able to go to work Thursday when he awoke. Mrs. West was preparing breakfast when she heard the shot and on entering his room found his lifeless body.

Mr. West was born two miles south of Whitesboro Oct. 5, 1886, and had lived in and near Whitesboro practically all of his life until about eight years ago he moved his family to Fort Worth where he was in the grocery business. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G.W. West, pioneer Whitesboro citizens. He was a member of the Boulevard Baptist church of Fort Worth and for two years was president of the men's Bible class. He was a member of the Stockyards Masonic Temple.

Funeral services at Fort Worth were conducted by the Rev. Kermit Melugin, pastor of the church, and the Rev. C.E. Hereford of Waco. The Whitesboro Masonic lodge assisted by members from Fort Worth conducted Masonic rites at the cemetery with the Rev. Melugin closing the service. Besides his widow he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Raymond L. Boyd, three sons, Loyd and Glen all of Forth Worth, John E. West, Kinder, LA., two brothers, N. E. and C. E. West, both of Whitesboro, three half brothers and one half sister.
