COOS BAY- William R. Martin, 65, passed away on March 25, 2009 in Portland. He was born August 25, 1943 in Salem. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1963 - 1967 as a Sargent. William worked for Weyerhauser for 40 years, retiring in July 2008. He was active in The Coos Bay Chapter of the Harley Owners club where he served as the photographer and historian. Bill had the need for speed, rather it be sand drag racing or riding his Harley.

William is survived by this brother, Blaine Martin; and nieces and nephews, Curtis Martin, Susan Syverson, Janet Martin, Kenny Martin, Amy Blair and Geoff Martin.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at Restlawn Memory Gardens, 201 Oak Grove Rd. NW, Salem. He is also having a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Coos Bay. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
