Mr. Jackie Grady Abercrombie, age 67, of Bonnie Lane, Blairsville passed away on Monday, December 3, 2007 in Kindred Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness. 

Mr. Abercrombie was born on May 10, 1940 in Fannin County, the son of the late Henry Grady Abercrombie and the late Minnie Iowa Chambers Abercrombie.  Jackie was a lifelong resident of Union County.  He loved life, his family and being around people.  Jackie loved fox hunting, which he did since childhood and also enjoyed fishing, camping and just being outdoors.  Most of all, he loved his church and loved his Lord.  Jackie was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Surviving Mr. Abercrombie are his loving wife of twelve years, Helen Sego Abercrombie of Blairsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Tina Abercrombie of Acworth, GA; one daughter and son-in-law, Natha and Lee Rivers of Bailey, MS; one brother, Jimmy Abercrombie of Blairsville; seven grandchildren, Chris and Tyler Abercrombie, Robby and Caleb Rivers, Lindsey McNeel, Robbin Abercrombie and Britney Newsome; three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Erin Rivers and Holden McNeel; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Cotton Harris and Rev. Vernon Davenport officiating.  Special music was presented by the Bethlehem Church Choir.  The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Kevin Newsome, Robby Rivers, Lee Rivers, Richard Tanner, Stevie Abercrombie and Jim Abercrombie.  Interment followed in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery.
