Buntrock was a lifelong resident of Pewaukee. He had recently announced his retirement as village assessor after serving since 1969. A former village trustee for 12 years, Buntrock served on the village board during construction of the first sewer and water lines in 1929. He was a member of the volunteer fire department for over 40 years. He also served as village treasurer for 2 years.

Buntrock was founder of the Pewaukee Building and Loan Assn., operating the firm from his home. He served as the first secretary of the Pewaukee Savings and Loan beginning in 1924 and was a charter member. At the time of his death Buntrock was chairman of the board of Pewaukee Savings and Loan Assn.

Manager of local lumber yards for 48 years, be began as a young man with Caldwell and Gates Lumber. Later he managed the Fuller Goodman Lumber Co. He also worked as an appraiser with Harry Kopepp Sr. for a period of time.

A sports fan, Buntrock was popluar with the young of the village because he supported the teams with money and time whenenver he could. We he was young, Buntrock never missed a baseball game at the village park. A good bowler, be began when bowling leagues were in their infancy. He has and his temamates drove to Menomonee Falls to bowl for years before alleys were built in Pewaukee. His devotion and his love for his hometown was recalled by his many friends.
