Alpha Berry, 104, of Burgin Manor Nursing Manor, since 1965, died Sunday in Richland Memorial Hospital. She was the oldest living person in Richland County.

Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

She was born on June 4, 1875, in Richland County, daughter of William and Lucinda (Orcutt) Berry.

She is survived by a sister Mrs. T.C. (Lora) Colvin, Olney, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph; five sisters, Mrs. Claire Michels, Edna Connett, and three infant sisters, Noretta, Minnie, and Mary Lou.

Alpha Berry graduated in the First class of the Olney Sanitarium of Nursing in 1910. She was the oldest registered nurse in Illinois and belonged to the Nurses Alumni Association and the Immanuel United Methodist Church.
