MARTIN BECKER
was born in Oberseebach, Alsace, Germany, on February 20th, 1854, and died December 21st, 1913, after an illness of several years. He arrived in Buffalo, New York, in 1871, in Chicago in 1873 and in Naperville in 1876, which has been his home until his death. He was married to Magdalena Boettger January 1st, 1878.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Magdalena, two daughters, Mrs. Frederick Tyler and Mrs. Wm. Sigmund, one son, Arthur, and two grand children, Arthur and Charlotte Sigmund, also a brother, George, who lives in Brumath, Germany, his father, mother and two sisters having gone before him. He also leaves many relatives, friends and business associates. The funeral was held on Wednesday, December 24th, in St. John's Lutheran church, where a large congregation gathered to pay their last tribute of esteem to the departed.
In the absence of the pastor, Rev. Pahl of Downers Grove, officiated, taking for his text, Isaiah 40-1-8.
Mr. Becker was a member of the Masonic fraternity and also of the Modern Woodmen of America, both societies turning out in large numbers at the funeral. Services at the grave were conducted by the members of the Masonic order.

In the world where there is no sorrow, he is at rest.

The family extend their heartfelt thanks to the several fraternal societies who assisted, to Rev. Randell who offered the prayer at the grave, for the many beautiful floral pieces given, also to the kind neighbors and friends whose sympathy was shown in our deep affliction.
