Lance Cpl. Stephen F. Dearmon of Crossville, Tennessee attended Crossville High School for three years where he was on the wrestling team before graduating from Cookeville High School. In addition to wrestling he was a member of several clubs including Students Against Violence. Following graduation he joined the Marine Corp. He became a Marine Corp photographer after graduating from the Defense Information School in Fort Meade, Maryland on April 10th, 2008. As a photographer he was called upon to document everything from changing of commands to everyday operations in Iraq. Stephan wanted people to see what he saw through a camera lens. He was always a prankster who liked to have fun, but he would do what he needed to do the first time he was told. He wouldn't have to be told again. He died at age 21 as a result of a non-hostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq. Survivors: mother and step-father, Robin and Steven Hartke, father, William Dearmon; grandparents, Larry and Maryellen Bedford, Irene Dearmon; sister and brother-in-law, Tiffany and Zack; nephew, Skylar; niece, Alivia. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William T. Dearmon of Ohio. Stephen's decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal. Military honors were performed by Delta Company 4th CEB of the United States Marine Corps.
