Cyril W. Knight, 94, of Kingsley, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter. Born July 17 1905, in Kingsley, he was the son of Eugene T. and Lulu (Pierce) Knight. On Jan. 13, 1934, in Kingsley, he married the former Thelma I. Kelly. A lifelong resident of this area, Cyril was a farmer and was also employed at the Traverse City State Hospital. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aire No. 383 and Traverse City Senior Center and Kitchen Band. He was an accomplished musician and spent many hours volunteering in area nursing homes. He is survived by four children, Beverly Graham of Copemish, Trula (Matthew) Gasior of Sheldon, Wis., Carol (William) Houghton of Kingsley and Raymond (Linda) Knight of Halifax, Pa.; one brother, Ward Knight of Kingsley; and five sisters, Marion Maxon of Kingsley, Ruth Moyer of Buckley, Bernice Seel of Traverse City, Betty Bowden of Kingsley and Jeanne Kyselka of Traverse City; 23 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma on June 26, 1999; three brothers, Lucius, Ellis and Colon; two sisters, Hazel Leroux and Winifred Beer; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Covell-Smith Funeral Home in Kingsley. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce VanDussen officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley. Memorial contributions may be directed to Fife Lake Baptist Church.
