Born July 27, 1970 in Portsmouth, VA, she was the daughter of James E. and Carol J. (Strate) Evans of Blairsville, PA. She spent her early years in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Puerto Rico.
Mrs. Burke graduated from Laurel Valley High School, Bolivar, PA with the class of 1988, graduated from Penn State in 1998 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and attained her Master's Degree in Special Education from Indian University of Pennsylvanoa in 2006.
She and her husband James B. Burke, were married on June 30, 2001 in Greencastle, PA and moved to their current residence. Prior to their marriage she lived in Chambersburg, PA.
Mrs. Burke was employed by Franklin Learning Center as a teacher and Arc of Washington County, Hargerstown, MD with the physically and mentally handicapped.
She was a member of Macedonia United Brethren, Greencastle, Edenville Community Ruritan Club, Chambersburg and enjoyed flower gardening and quilting.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by her daughter, Brittany Evans, at home; a step-daughter, Deanna Burke, Chambersburg; A step-son James Burke and his wife Kandi of Virginia Beaach, VA; one grandson, one step-grandson; a sister, Tracy L. Michael and her husband Tom of Seward, PA; a brother, James W. Evans and his wife Jamie of Latrobe, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be Thursday, April 9, 2009 in the Macedonia Church Cemetery, Greencastle.
