Born the daughter of Ruffas and Martha Bailey Cook. She married John A. Tanner on June 28, 1912 & they had 6 children. Claude G., Bessie, Oda Lee, Odean, Viola and Lloyd Tanner.

Mrs. Ruth Cansada Tanner, 82
Wife of John A. Tanner, of the Dial community, died in the Watkins Memorial Hospital late Tuesday March 13. She had suffered a broken hip on Sunday, March 4th and died from complications following. Besides her husband she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Elmer Carter and Mrs. Junie Weaver of Martinsville, Indiana; Mrs. Lester Walker, Canton, Ga. and Mrs. Woodrow Brawley , Dial, Ga. Two sons, Claude G. Tanner, Brunswick, Ga. and Lloyd Tanner, Cleveland, Ga. Three sisters and five brothers. Funeral services were held from the Concord Baptist Church Friday morning, March 15. Interment was in the church cemetery.
