OCEOLA, April 2-The funeral of John Snavely was held from the U. B. church Monday forenoon, sermon by his pastor, Rev. E. M. Burroughs. The church was filled with relatives and old friends.

Mr. Snavely, whose death occurred Friday at the age of 93 years, was born near Lancaster, Penn., Oct. 22, 1830, and was the oldest son of David and Kathryn (Dohner) Snavely, who settled in Todd township near Oceola in 1844 traveling overland to this country. His marriage to Kathryn Diefenbacher, a daughter of Jacob and Rosanna Diefenbacher, occurred April 10th, 1864, his death occurring less than two weeks before their sixtieth wedding anniversary. They were parents of six children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all living. His entire life from his 14th year was spent on the farm where he died. He was a member of the United Brethren church at Bethel and remained a faithful Christian until death. He told his family he was ready and prepared to go, and passed away peacefully. Mr. Snavely was a man held in high esteem and loved and respected by all who knew him, ever ready to lend a helping hand in time of need.

His old arm-chair is vacant and his glad hand and kindly smile will be sadly missed. The children are: Frank, Mrs. John George, Mrs. Charles Ruff, Mrs. C. J. Downing, Mrs. Wilson Campbell and Mrs. Charles Heft. They are all living and with their aged mother are saddened by the breaking; Mrs. Mary Snavely, Henry Snavely, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Snavely, Mr. and Mrs. William Snavely, Mr. and Mrs. George Snavely and family, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Snavely, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Heft, Mr. and Mrs. Feightner all of Bucyrus and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mossman of Little York.

The pall bearers were Arthur and Orland Reiff, Harry George, Elza Snavely, Milo Gingery and Joseph P. Wilson. Interment in the Mausoleum at Nevada cemetery.

Of Mr. Snavely's brothers and sisters Abraham, David, Isaac, Joseph, Catherine (Hershberger) Mary (Gearhart) all are gone to the great beyond. After his Mother's death his father married Mary Mollenkoff, who was the mother of seven children, Sarah (Mrs. John Heinlen) Charles, Moses, Samuel, George, Emma (Mrs. Joseph Heinlen) and William. Moses died in 1898 and George was drowned when five years old.
