CLEMENTS, Jess - Died, at his home in Cherokee City Feb. 15, Uncle Jess Clements, aged 79 years. The funeral was conducted by Prof. Coffelt. The attendance was large, of whom 45 were relatives. Uncle Jess had been helpless for over 2 years and had been bedfast for 7 weeks. He was a kind, indulgent husband and raised several children but had some of his own. His was not a member of the church but a firm believer in the Primitive Baptist, of which his father was a preacher. He was a soldier of the Civil War, drew a small pension and always voted the Democrat ticket. He was a good citizen, had lived in this town about 8 years and had many friends. He leaves a wife and three sisters, Mrs. Mayfield of Colorado, Mrs. Abbott of Siloam Springs and Mrs. Duncan of Oklahoma, all of whom were present at the funeral and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
