Ruby Clair Ralston Held, 73, died at Routt Memorial Hospital at 3:03 a.m. on Monday, Sept 7, 1987. Services, conducted by the Rev Spencer Wren, were held at the United Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Interment was in the Steamboat Springs Cemetery
At the services Ula Rider, accompanied on the pr no by Thelma Moore, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."
Pallbearers were Jim Kline, Dick Latham. Jay Macfarlane, Bill Michalek, Steve Nelson and Don Silva. Honorary bearers were Pat McClelland, Bob Ralston, Leo Robinson and Bob Werner.
Born on July 19,1914, Ruby was the sixth of 10 children born to Wallace and Neva Jones Ralston, pioneer residents of Routt County. She was raised on the Ralston ranch at the foot of Yellow Jacket Pass along Grouse Creek and attended country schools in that area.
She married Charles Robert Heid on Aug. 25, 1934, in Holy Name Catholic Church in Steamboat Springs. They made their home in Steamboat Springs, where Bob was in business with his father in the I.G.A. market.
Ruby was active in many community activities, including the Rifle Club and Lady Lions. She and her husband supported the Winter Sports Club and took part in many of its activities. For many years she served as a visiting nurse, caring for the elderly and shutins.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Cyril "Corkey" Heid and Raymond Gene Heid. both of Steamboat Springs; two sisters, Hazel Werner and Benita Bristol, both of Steamboat Springs; two brothers, Lloyd Ralston of Pendleton, Ore., and Jack Ralston of Sparks, Nev.; and three grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, son Delbert, four brothers and one sister.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Routt Memorial Hospital in care of Pat McClelland, United Bank of Steamboat Springs, Box 744888, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477.
