HONEA PATH - Mrs. Cleo Rogers Hammett, 91, of 201 Maryland Ave, Honea Path, SC, widow of William D. Hammett died Feb. 20, 1988 at Anderson Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Steven and Mrs. Mattie Welborn Rogers. She was twice married, first to the late James S. Stone. She was a charter member of Chiquola United Methodist Church, the Flora Scott Bible Class and the U.M.W. She was retired from Chiquola Manufacturing Co.

Surviving are a son, Winfred M. Hammett of Wedgefield; two step-sons, Jesse C. and Norman E. Hammett, both of Honea Path; five daughters, Mrs. Lucille Stone Bollinger of Greenwood, Mrs. Clara H. Finley of Ware Shoals, Mrs. Ellen H. Murdock and Mrs. Caroleen H. Murdock, both of Honea Path, and Mrs. Molly H. Evans of Pelzer; a brother, Charlie Rogers of Greenwood; a sister, Mrs. Edith Britton of Chester; 30 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Chiquola United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jackie Owensby officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.

The body is at Pruitt Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Monday. The family is at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Honea Path Rescue Squad.

Grew up in Easley, SC; she first moved to Belton, then to Honea Path, SC and lived there until her death.

Worked as a weaver in the local textile plant before retiring. Faithful member of Chiquola United Methodist Church and a good Christian witness.
