He was born Oct. 30, 1922, in Hutchinson, the son of Vernon S. and Viola K. Lawrence Partridge. He graduated from Hutchinson High School and immediately entered the U.S. Navy. A lifelong resident of Hutchinson, he was a salesman for Betts Baking Company for 42 years.
He belonged to the Church of the Holy Cross, Knights of Columbus Council No. 7279, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, was a former member of the Salt Shakers Camping Club, was an avid bowler, and enjoyed raising show chickens. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On April 25, 1942, he married Evelyn V. Wagoner in Hutchinson. She died Jan. 21, 2009.
Survivors include: sons, William and his wife Anita, Fort Scott, Daniel and his wife Rhonda, Lawrence, and Ronald, Hutchinson; daughters, Gwen Weidman and her husband John, Hutchinson, and Donnis Viegra, Washington, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Vernon R. Partridge, George L. Partridge, and a stillborn twin brother, a sister, Virginia Mae Kirby, and a grandson, John Weidman in 1965.
Parish rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. prior to Mass on Friday at the Church of the Holy Cross. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday March 13, 2009, at the church, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the Church of the Holy Cross, or Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
