Lydia Emily Vallance
Mrs. Lydia Emily Vallance, relict of the late James Vallance died at her home on Liberty Street, Arcade, on Thursday, June 2nd, aged 70 years.
The funeral services were held at the home on Saturday, Rev. Altvator officiating. Interment in Sandusky cemetery.
Lydia Emily Shallies was born in the town of Eagle in 1840, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Shallies, and she was the oldest of the family of five children. Soon after she moved to the town of Freedom with her parents. On December 26th, 1878, she was united in marriage to James Vallance. To them one son was born, A. Henry Vallance, who has tenderly and lovingly cared for his mother during her long illness.
Mrs. Vallance has endeared herself to a very large circle of friends during her life by kind acts and loving deeds, and a large number of people attended the funeral on Saturday to pay a last tribute of love to her memory.
Besides her son she is survived by two brothers Edgar Shallies of Sandusky and Henry S. Shallies of Springville.
