CPL. HAROLD SHERROD III U.S. Marine Corps

Cpl. Harold "Hess" Edward Sherrod III, 24, of Las Vegas, passed away April 6, 2009.

He was born June 6, 1984, in Minot, N.D., and was a resident of Nevada for 20 years. Hess graduated from Rancho High School Aviation Academy in 2002.

He was an accomplished All State singer, lettering for Rancho High School choir and R.O.T.C. He was proudly serving as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Hess was a military historian, a faithful patriot, a perfect American, loving son, brother and friend with a wicked sense of humor. He was a faithful Marine NCO -- a solid, honest-to-goodness Hero!

Hess was preceded in death by his grandma, Sharon Kay Sherrod; aunt, Darlene Sherrod; uncle, David Wayne Sherrod; and grandpa, Robert "Opa" Amos.

He is survived by his loving mother, Kerry A. Lytle; father, Harold "JR" Sherrod Jr.; stepmother, Jodi Sherrod; brothers, William and Nicholas Sherrod, Tim and John Daniel, Tony Kirk and Mark Shouse; grandparents, William Lytle, Alberta Amos, Roy and Bonnie Wilson, and Harold Sherrod Sr. (the late Sharon Kay); uncles and aunts, Kevin Lytle (Jun), Kean Lytle (Kathleen O'Connell), Steven Sherrod (Dena), Joy Callis (Charles), R.J. Wilson and Angie Hall (Shane); and many beloved cousins and friends.

There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the East Stake Gateway and Wyoming LDS Chapel.
