Johnny Brewster was killed as a result of an auto accident west of Atoka. It was on a Friday night as the high school football game going on and during the game the sirens were going off and by end of the game the news had spread. Johnny had been at Ft. Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma and was on his way home with another friend of his who was driving and lost control at the edge of town and Johnny who was the passenger was killed. His funeral was held a few days later at the Atoka High School Auditorium. I remember it well as that was the 1st time at my young age to attend a funeral of another young person. He has 3 brothers: Ralph, George, and Larry that I have known a long time. He was a good person. Always a sweet smile and good natured. I just felt I needed to make him a memorial so he can be remembered. Thanks to all who leave flowers/notes for Johnny who is another Vietnam Veteran who needs remembering.
