James Chancellor was a retired Police Officer in Jackson Mississippi and was also the first finger print man in that area.He was also an officer in Monroe La,and also served at a time as a rail road detective.

He died after suffering from an extensive illness. It's not known what the illness was, but according to his World War One draft card, he did claim a back related disability.He was 4F and was exempt from military service.

He was married to Jodie Chancellor, his 3rd wife. Grandpa Chancellor was the son of James Chancellor and Mary Case and brother of Joseph Shelby and William Jefferson Chancellor.James was also the Husband of Mattie May Newman and Minnie Flora Raybourn, who he divorced in 1934 to marry his 3rd Wife Jodie(Grandma Jo).
