Irene Ethel Zimmerman

Irene Ethel Zimmerman was born April 14, 1906, in Huntsville township near Sterling, Kansas, of John S. and Pearl Zimmerman. She died at her home near Sterling, August 23, 1940, at the age of thirty-four years, four months, and nine days. Though her life was short it was full of service for the Lord and those near her heart.

She was baptized and became a member of the United Brethren church at an early age. Later her membership was transferred to the Mennonite church, Sterling, with the others of her family. There she was a willing worker, and a loyal and faithful member. She was a devoted student of the Bible and spent many hours in meditation and reading of religious literature.

She was graduated from Nickerson high school and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sterling College, after which she devoted her life to her home and family.

She was a member and officer of the Medford Farm Bureau and also of the Modern Priscilla Club.

The recent loss of her beloved mother left her broken hearted and she longed for the time when she could be with her again. The burden of her grief was too great for her to bear and she went to join her in the loving arms of her Savior.

Besides her father, she leaves to mourn her loss, a brother Leslie, of Newton; three sisters, Mrs. Emmett Haran of Wichita, Mrs.. Marion Heter of Sterling, and Roberta of the home, and a host of relatives and friends.
