Diana Le (Ost) Dethloff, 57, was born March 16, 1952, in Concordia, Kan., to Arden and Marcella Ost. She died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kan,
Diana grew up on the family farm south of Burr Oak. A 1970 graduate of Burr Oak High School, Diana attended Kansas Wesleyan University and Kansas State University. On Aug. 19, 1972, she married Mike Dethloff in Burr Oak. Diana worked on the family farm until 1998, and then worked for Central National Bank in Mankato and Formoso, Kansas. She also served as the city clerk of Burr Oak for 32 years.
Diana attended the United Methodist Church in Burr Oak and was a lifetime member of American Legion Auxiliary Emory Clemens Unit 263. She also was an accompanist for countless church services, weddings and funerals.
Preceding her in death were her father, Arden Ost; father-in-law, Roland "Red" Dethloff; mother-in-law, Phyllis Dethloff; uncles, Milford Ost, Emerald Ost and Glenn Snyder; and aunt, Marilyn Snyder.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Dethloff, Burr Oak; daughter, Lisa M. Dethloff, Hutchinson, Kan.; daughter, Barbara (Dethloff) Jones and husband, Colby, Olathe, Kan.; mother, Marcella Ost, Burr Oak; brother, LaVon, and wife, Judy Ost, Burr Oak; niece, Marcie, and husband, Mike Stegman, and children, Megan, Heidi, and Joseph, Washington, Kan,; nephew, Kevin, and wife, Nikki Ost, Mankato, Kan.; brother-in-law, Les, and wife, Janice Dethloff; nephew, Russell, and niece, Jessica, Concordia, Kan.; sister-in- law, Margaret, and husband, Norman Zoch; nieces Julie and Carolyn, Lincoln, Neb.; aunt and uncle, Milo and Doris Matousek, Mankato; aunt and uncle, Floyd and Mary Fugate, Lenexa, Kan.; aunt, Anne Ost, Mankato, aunt, Bev Ost, Holdrege, Neb.
A celebration of life service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at the United Methodist Church, Burr Oak with Pastor Dan Dempsey and Pastor Laura Fricker officiating. A special reading "Just Pedal" by Charles Swindoll, was given by Cindy Diehl. Pianist was Gloria Schlaefli. Soloist was Wayne Fogo. He sang "Bridge Over Troubled Water." Hymns were: "In The Garden" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
Casketbearers were Shawn Newell, Bobby Johnson, Larry McMains, Dewey Underwood, Patrick Smith, Doug Ford, Mike Harris and Oren Underwood. Graveside services followed at the Burr Oak Cemetery. The family suggest memorials be given in Diana Dethloff's memory in care of the family. Condolences may be sent to www.melbymortuary.com.
