Burial will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery, Lindale.
She passed away April 8, 2009, in Grand Saline.
Mrs. Alvey Griggs was born Dec. 8, 1917, in Lindale to Tommy W. and Emma West Gordon.
She was Baptist by faith. She grew up in Lindale and moved to the Canton area in 1955. Mrs. Griggs was preceded in death by parents; first husband, John Alvey; son, Johnny "Sonny" Alvey Jr.; daughter, Pat Morris; and three brothers, Teddy Gordon, Wesley Gordon and Walter Gordon
Surviving are her husband, Hess Paul Griggs of Grand Saline; son, Earl Alvey of Grand Saline; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Glynne Hitt of Lindale; daughter and son-in-law, Lottie and Boyce Carter of Bangs; four sisters, Billie Malone of Mesquite, Chris Ackley of Farmers Branch, Emily Featherston of Farmers Branch, and Polly Graham of Mesquite; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
