Georgia Ann Carson, 65, of Newbern, sister of Glenda Jones of South Fulton, died March 23, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. Services will be 11 am Saturday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, with burial following there in Fairview Cemetery. Alvin Chapman and Parks Thurmon will officiate, and pallbearers will be Earl Burton, Keith Sims, Patrick Cupples, Carmen Cupples, Justin Jones, and Jordan Jones. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 pm Friday.
She was born Aug. 25, 1943, in Dyersburg, daughter of the late Brodie M. and Mary Evelyn (Epperson) Cupples. She was married to Billy Dean Carson, who survives, and was a retired employee of Sara Lee Foods and a member of Roellen Church of Christ.
Survivors also include four daughters and sons-in-law, Karla and Tony Ivy and Kim and Larry Maynor, all of Newbern, Kristi and Joey Morgan of Trenton and Kerri and Tim Winn of Dyersburg; two other sisters, Mary Brashier and Colette Barron, both of Dyersburg; two brothers, Brodie B. Cupples of Dyersburg and Gene Cupples of Memphis; eight grandchildren, Adam Winn, Scott Winn, Magen Maynor, Jeremy Maynor, Nick Morgan, Alley Morgan, Tony Ivy Jr. and Kelsey Ivy; and three great-grandchildren, Madison Maynor, Angel Ivy and Alexix Ivy. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Tony Childress.
