Daniel is son of Absalom Payne of Georgia (1807-1880) and Sophronia Loftin Payne 1818 d between 1851-1860 in Dale County, Alabama. Sophronia was first wife and they had twelve children. After her death he married Elizabeth (Eliza) Payne and they had six children.
Daniel died after 1920; he was a widower that census and living with a daughter and two sons.
