A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles Cecil Bordelon will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Fifth Ward with Rev. Paul Kunnumpuram and Rev. Dan O'Connor officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery, Fifth Ward under the direction of Kramer of Fifth Ward.

Charles Cecil Bordelon, 92, of Fifth Ward, passed away April 10, 2009 in the VA Medical Center.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lila Kelone Bordelon; great- granddaughter, Noel Bordelon; daughter-in-law, Linda Bordelon; parents, Shelton and Florence Dauzat Bordelon; seven brothers, Milton, Worthy, August, Jimmie, Emeric, Shelton (Bud), and Elric and five sisters, Benita, Corrine, Ollie, Louise and Carrie.

Mr. Bordelon was born in the Johnson Settlement. He was a long time employee of Continental Trailways bus line, farmer and a cattleman. At a young age he dearly loved camping and fishing, in later years he enjoyed sitting on his front porch. He was very active in the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus and a strong supporter of his church. Mr. Bordelon never met a stranger and loved talking to people. He had a kind heart and was always generous in helping those in need. Some of his favorite thoughts he would share with people were: "Life is a wonderful thing, if it were any better, I couldn't stand it." "I hope I live to be 100 years old." "Remember, there are still a lot of good people on this earth, we just hear about the bad ones all the time."

Those left to cherish his memory, special friend, Beverly O'Quin; one daughter, Delilah Bordelon Aymond and husband, Andrew of Fifth Ward; two sons, Kenneth (Muldoon) Bordelon and wife, Peggy of Fifth Ward and Thomas Bordelon of Alexandria; nine grandchildren, Brian; Frank; Scott; F.P.; Steven; Mistie; Sean; Melanie and Kelley and seven great-grandchildren, Renee; Callie; Mazie; Frank, Jr.; Aubrey; Hailey and Alivia.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday at Kramer of Fifth Ward.

A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, Texas 75284-0692.
