Wayne Joseph Ker, 71, a long time Quincy resident passed away on Monday, June 20, 2005, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. He was born on August 22, 1933, to Wayne W. and Dora Maria (Henrich) Ker at Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He attended school in Ontario, Oregon graduating from high school in 1951. Wayne farmed with his Dad and brother before moving to Quincy in 1955, where he farmed until his retirement this year. Wayne was a Grant County Fire District Commissioner for 35 years, past president of Columbia Basin Vegetable Seed Association, past president of Grant County Farm Bureau, past president of Weed District #1; he received the Oregon State Dairy Star Farmer of the Year.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ker of Quincy; sons, Richard Ker, Steve Ker, David Ruppert all of Quincy; daughter, Dorothy Collins of Everett; step-sons, Mark Owens of Quincy, Bryan Owens of Hermiston, OR; step-daughter, Mary Ann Burton of El Sobrante, CA; brother, Ed Ker of Tri Cities; sister, Mary Wagner of Cornelius, OR; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; two grandsons; and one granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 24, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Quincy. Officiating will be Rev. Ann Hinz. Concluding Services and Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee.
