Edmund Clinton Shaffer, son of Alfred and Elizabeth Shaffer, was born Nov. 8, 1866, in Naperville, Ill., and passed away Jan. 24, 1949.
At an early age he started as a barber apprentice and eventually had a shop of his own. After 50 years of active work, he retired in November, 1938. Since that time he has served for a number of years as building commissioner for the City of Naperville.
On Oct. 3, 1922, he was married to Mrs. Amelia Reninger, who preceded him in death 16 years ago.
He was a charter member of Euclid Lodge No. 65, A.F.& A.M., and a member of Euclid Chapter No. 13, R.A.M.
He leaves to mourn his passing a niece and nephew, Mrs. Ernest Rich of Naperville, Lee Kline of Rockford and two step-daughters, Mrs. Verle Mueller and Mrs. June Beckman of Naperville, also grand-nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
The funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Jan. 27, 1949, at Oliver Beidelman funeral chapel. Professor Keen of the Evangelical Theological seminary officiated and Masons conducted last rites. Burial took place in Naperville cemetery.
