He was retired from The Patriot-News Co., where he was maintenance supervisor, and also was a former Middletown borough lineman.
"When I think of John Kohr," said Patriot-News Publisher Raymond L. Gover, "the qualities of loyalty, perseverance, innovation and determination come to mind.
"He headed our maintenance department for many years, and largely because of his efforts and those of his crew, no mechanical problem ever caused us to miss publication.
"There were times when it was nip and tuck and there were times when our press start was late, but somehow John always came through.
"He took a lot of pride in the contribution the maintenance department makes to our operation every single day. And he sure wasn't shy about telling the publisher about those contributions.
"All of us at The Patriot-News will miss his occasional visits, and I sure will miss his counsel and advice."
