Floyd Harold Bedwell was the son of Pirtle A. 'Fred' Bedwell and Irene Hunter Bedwell. He and his sister, Anna Juanita Bedwell were adopted by his Aunt,
Annie Laura Hunter Bauman and her husband, John Cleveland Bauman following the untimely death of his mother in 1927. He was the husband of Betty Ann Sorenson and father of their two sons, Chris Harold Bedwell and John Gary Bedwell.

Obituary of Floyd Harold Bedwell

Floyd Harold Bedwell, 84, of Acampo, died August 12, 2006 in a local convalescent hospital following a brief illness. He was born December 27, 1921, in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Bedwell served in the Army-Air Force during World War II from 1940-45, where he was a B24 bomber pilot on the Pellau Islands. He made 40 successful missions over the Philippines and earned his wings at the former Stockton Field. He married Betty Ann Sorensen in 1944.

He moved to Stockton in 1956, where he was employed as a district manager with PDM Steel Company until his retirement in 1984. He later was employed by California Welding in Stockton. He enjoyed traveling in his motorhome, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Ann Bedwell, of Acampo; sons, Chris Bedwell, of Seattle, Washington, and John Bedwell, of Stockton; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Bedwell.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 25 in the Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Highway 99 and Harney Lane, with Judy Lynn Hughes, C.S. officiating. Inurnment will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park.
