Wilford A. Bradley, son of David L. and Susan Ann Blevins Bradley, was born September 27, 1889, at Morrisville, Missouri. He moved to Dallas County near Long Lane when quite small. He passed away at the family home near Long Lane on Sunday, May 31 after an illness of seven weeks.
He was united in marriage to Alma Ellen Gaunt on December 22, 1912. To this union thirteen children were born. Those surviving are; Levin Bradley of Buffalo, Missouri, Dessie Pinkley of Elkland, Missouri, Eula Cheek of Springfield, Missouri, Elbert Bradley of Long Lane, Missouri, Naomi Wingo of Windyville, Missouri, Bill Bradley of Buffalo, Missouri, Nadine Burtin of Eureka, Kansas, Irene Bennett of Elkland, Missouri, Phyllis Poindester of Springfield, Missouri, Travis Bradley and Avery Bradley, both of Buffalo, Missouri. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Alma on June 24, 1957 and two children who died in infancy, also a grandson, Gerald Eugene Bradley, who died May 30, 1958.
Besides the above mentioned children,he is survived by his wife, Mary of the home who he married on December 18,1958. His step children who he also loved are; Arthur Roberts, Miami, Oklahoma; Earn Roberts, Buffalo, Missouri, Mable Pernia, Los Angeles, California; Ester Roberts, Oakland, California; Johnnie Poore of California; Opal Cox, Wichita, Kansas and Jim Roberts of California. He is also survived by a brother, Eugene D. Bradley and a sister, Mrs. Lulu Slack, both of Buffalo, Missouri, 44 grand children, 16 step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was a charter member of the Long Lane Christian Church, having been converted in early manhood.
He was a very kind and loving father and spent many hours reading God's word. His patient and understanding nature will long be remembered by all those who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Harold Mayes on Wednesday, June 3, 1964 at2:00 pm in the Long Lane Christian Church. The church choir sange, "Does Jesus Care:, "Rock of Ages", and "The Last Mile of the Way" accompanied by Miss Rita Hanna. Escorts were his grandchildren; Richard Bennett, Bill Bradley, Jr. Leland Bradley, Paul Bradley, Ronald Bradley, and Donald Pinkley. Interment was in the Hill Cemetery under the direction of Montgomery Funer Home of Buffalo.
