Jim was one of 12 children of Franklin R "Bud" and Kate Carter Jeffrey. Jim was married to Martha E "Mattie" Lawlis on 9/11/1910. Mattie was the daughter of Phillip Willard and Elizabeth O. Lawlis. To this marriage were born: Menvil Katherine in 1911, Avis Willard in 1913 and James Truitt in 1917. Mattie passed in 1928. His 2nd marriage was to Alma Elizabeth Lawlis on 1/14/1934. Alma was the daughter of Jacob Martin Sr and Julie Annie Logan Lawlis. Mattie's dad and Almas dad were brothers. To this marriage were born: Norma Kay and Thomas Leawayne.
